Nordpark Düsseldorf
In 1937, the Nordpark was created as part of the “Großen Reichsausstellung Schaffendes Volk” (Large State Exhibition on the Working People). The park is an important view of the garden architecture of the 1930s. The creative basis consists of long sight lines, interrupted by right-angled axes and architecturally designed parts.
At the beginning of the park you will find a long 'water axis', with waterfalls and fountains, surrounded by beautiful flower beds. The water axis then continues into scattered flower beds and ends in a lushly planted circular flower bed, along which the visitor is gradually led to the rear part of the park.
The Nordpark received a special addition in 1975, when the Japanese community donated the “Japanischen Garten am Rhein” (Japanese Garden on the Rhine) to the people of Düsseldorf. The garden architects Iwakii Ishiguro & Sohn / Tokyo designed a garden with a waterfall, pond, picturesque rocks, azaleas, Japanese maple and pruned trees on 5000 square meters.
Beautiful to walk in and perfect for macro photography due to the wide variety of plants and flowers in combination with water.
